A two-day immersion in botanical perfumery at our Topanga atelier with Leanne Hirsh, founder, creator & perfumer.

We work exclusively with 100% plant-based materials: essential oils, CO2 extracts, absolutes, concretes, tinctures and resins. No synthetics or aroma chemicals, ever.

Leanne brings a deep background in traditional Amazonian & Andean plant medicines, and a current focus on Tibetan herbal medicine. Her teaching is intuitive and organic, a reflection of her creative heart and her love for the plants and their essences.

How the weekend works

Day One is our One-Day Botanical Perfume Workshop. You’ll learn how a botanical perfume is built and blend your own from start to finish, taking home a 6ml bottle.

Day Two goes deeper into the perfume you began. Working with an expanded library of rare and premium materials, including tinctures and absolutes, you’ll learn how accessory notes and accords can deepen, soften or shift your base formula, and build a richer, more developed version of your Day One perfume. You’ll also learn how a perfume ages and evolves, and how to evaluate it over time.

Across both sessions, with Leanne’s guidance, you’ll learn the structure of botanical fragrance: how essences work together, how to balance your accords, and how to recognize what a blend needs, whether that’s adding, subtracting or deepening. It’s the subtle artistry that turns a blend into something unforgettable.

Topics include:

• Fragrance families & categories of essences

• Working with different forms of essences & extracts: essential oils, CO2 extracts, absolutes, concretes, tinctures and resins

• Exploring fragrance fillers & accessory notes

• Formulating accords to balance & highlight chosen essences

• Odor studies & design exercises

• How to create a perfume from foundational essences

• Resources for materials, aromatics suppliers & equipment

This is a slow, immersive, highly personalized experience, designed for those who value craftsmanship, creativity and the beauty of process.

Experience includes:

• Two guided sessions, Saturday & Sunday, 12–4pm

• Access to an expanded, premium ingredient library on Day Two

• A 6ml bottle (Day One) and a 15ml bottle of your developed perfume (Day Two), $385 in perfume

• Your formulas, to return to, refine or develop further

• Light refreshments and seasonal herbal teas

Book both days together for $850, a $100 savings over adding Day Two later ($650). Day Two is only open to those who attend Day One.

Just the beginning

These two days give you the foundation and confidence to begin your own journey on the fragrant path. Learning together, with guidance in real time, brings a depth that simply isn’t possible in a single sitting. Botanical perfumery is a lifelong practice. Leanne has been deepening her craft for over 25 years, from skincare and makeup formulation to botanical perfume, and she continues to learn & deepen through her studies in Tibetan medicine, alongside her Peruvian practice.

For those who may wish to continue, Leanne offers private one-on-one apprentiships: over 3 to 6 months, in a series of 3-hour sessions (approx 12 hours a month ) a mentorship in person or online.

Cancellation Policy:

No refunds.

If you cancel 7 or more days before the workshop, your full $850 becomes a credit toward a future workshop or a Perfumera Curandera perfume, valid for 12 months.

If you cancel within 7 days of the workshop, the full fee is forfeited.

If we need to cancel or reschedule, you can choose to transfer to another date or receive a full refund.

Extenuating circumstances will be handled case-by-case.
