LEANNE HIRSH: BOTANICAL PERFUMER
Founded and created by Leanne Hirsh, Perfumera Curandera was inspired from over 25 years of traveling to the Amazon rainforest and Andean mountains with her Peruvian husband, through their extensive studies with Curanderos (shamanic keepers of the ancient healing knowledge of sacred teacher plants). These Curanderos and the magical plants they heal with inspired the creation of the unique aromatic plant extracts at the heart of Perfumera Curandera.
Leanne has over 3 decades of an illustrious career as an internationally renowned make up artist for the fashion and beauty industry and recently won an Emmy for “BEST MAKE UP “in 2023 for her celebrity client Jada Pinkett Smiths hit talk show “RED TABLE TALK”
London, born, the daughter of a renowned jeweler she was steeped in travel from a very young age that led to her deep love of Art,Beauty & Nature in all its forms, and later as she travelled the world for her film shoots, her natural curiosity led her to explore traditional healing wherever she was, from the dusty desert souks of Morocco to Egypt, the West Indies and Africa, gathering knowledge from the local wisdom keepers.
This led to her curation of a vast library of rare aromatics, exotic incenses, spices, medicinal herbs and traditional medicines that all contribute to her extensive collection of precious botanicals & resins. Currently for the past 5 years, she has been studying the Tibetan Medicine Tradition of “SOWA RIGPA” which translates to “Pristine Awareness” bridging ancient teachings of the Medicine Buddha, Tibetan herbal medicines & external therapies and Mantra healing.
Her favorite pastime is to share & teach her love of natural perfumery, she holds intimate classes in her tranquil Topanga Atelier, or being out in nature, gathering seasonal plants, flowers, resins, seeds & roots for tinctures, infusions, & herbal medicines that are at the core of her fragrant creations. Leanne is available for consultations and bespoke projects.
